Name: Hermenscrets "Hermes" Mothle
Age: 19 (193)
Species: Mothman (death's head hawk-moth)
Being in high and obscure places
Looking at/touching things that give off light
Getting his hair/wings/antennas pulled
Having attention drawn to him
Flying- Kind of obvious that he would be a great flier anyway. He is absolutely wonderful when it comes to weaving between trees and going around sharp turns without breaking his speed
Climbing- In both forms, he is a very excellent climber. It takes little to no effort for him to scale a wall
Camouflage- In monster form, or when he just has his wings out, he can easily blend into the trunks of trees when clinging to them, for his wings are colored so closely to the bark
Darkness- He can see best at night. Nighttime to him looks like daytime to us
Swimming- Like the average insect, he has trouble when it comes to water. He just simply doesn't know how to swim, in either form.
Strong gusts of wind- When flying, wind can definitely throw his course off and make it harder for him to flap or fly straight.
Sunlight- He is not only nocturnal, but almost completely blinded by sunlight, and it definitely hurts his sensitive eyes. That is why he has to wear sun glasses during the day.
Bug zappers or lamps- Just like a moth, he is attracted to lights like a cat with a bell. When in a darker area and there is a light source somewhere, you can forget about him completing his job because he will just follow the light, whether it a flashlight, campfire, or sadly, a bug zapper.
Personality: Hermes, despite being a monster, is actually very bashful when he is around others. He's one of those people that usually stands off in the back of the crowd, not really wanting to be seen and enjoys just being by himself. Being that awkward dude. He finds the most comfort being in the dark and perhaps sitting up in a tree or on a rooftop, just somewhere high up to avoid "danger". He isn't one to be the first to speak either. He never really finds anything to talk about to anyone, and is also embarrassed by his nasally voice. One of his many things he likes to do when alone is read manga he loots from houses that he and his family "pay a visit to". He also sometimes takes anime dvds and k-pop cds, which has turned him into a little Japan geek. When his family finds a house to stay in for a few days, he ends up locking himself in a room with a tv and cd player and just has a blast watching, reading, and listening to his collected items.
History: Hermes' life is fairly interesting for a monster. You know how most monsters try to avoid humans unless they need food? Well, his family always lived DANGEROUSLY CLOSE to them. He followed his family all over the United States by way of air travel which consisted of him, a mother, a father, a brother, and a sister. Their wings pumping tirelessly in the night. For years, they would travel to small towns, spying on prey from the roofs of buildings and tree tops. Their prey being humans. They would observe a single person at a time, watching them to see if the person has home and if they are the only one living there. If so, Hermes and his family would sneak into the home at night, using chimneys, outdoor basements that lead into the house, and sometimes have to break a window to get in. Then they would capture the human and feast upon his blood. But the family wouldn't just eat and run, they would even take refuge in the house for a few days. They don't stay for long, because of years of doing this, they knew that people would be looking for their victim after a while. When a few days have passed, they would sneak out of the house and fly off to find more food and another home temporary home. Now the thing is, the moths DO have the ability to shape shift into a more human-like form, mimicking man's anatomy and have been able to for hundreds of years, but as Hermes' father has learned, humans do not find another human with ANTENNAS and GREEN BLOOD all that normal. The family did not ALWAYS know how to though. It was Hermes' grandfather that figured out the trick to shape shifting into human form, and then taught Hermes' father whom then taught Hermes, his siblings, and his mother. When finding it completely necessary, the family will take human form and travel like that, usually when it is in the middle of a storm where they cannot fly.
Even though Hermes has been breaking into humans' houses for over a hundred years with his family, he never really enjoyed that life. Being so close to the humans who outnumber his species and could easily kill them if they were found. It's just too dangerous for his liking and he just wanted to live in a place where he could feed on animals and not have to hide from humans. But it seems his luck is growing. His species travels in small groups which only consists of family members, and once they children of the parents are a certain age, they are basically removed from the group so that they can make a family of their own. And Hermes is now at that age. The odd thing is, he really does not want to leave his family. He may want to go somewhere more hidden from humans, but he is still scared to be out on his own. His parents caught wind of a special academy for monsters, far away from the human race, and found this as a start for their timid son. So they gave him a sack filled with his cds, dvds, manga, and a uniform they picked up while they were in Maine, and sent him on his way to the school. Hopefully he doesn't get lost!
As stated above, his design is based off of the death's head hawk-moth with the colors and the "skull" shape on the back of his head
His father signed him up to be in Bismuth, thinking that it would be a good way to practice his flying skills. Thing is, his father doesn't know that the school doesn't HAVE any sport that involves wings. Being too late for him to be in a different house, Hermes is just going to settle with tennis since it does not involve much running and no swimming
During the day, the sun burns his eyes and makes it tough for him to see, so he has to constantly wear sunglasses unless it's cloudy or dark out. At night, he has near perfect eye sight
During the winter months, his fur in his original form grows out around his neck and limbs, and in his human form his hair gets longer and more unruly
Since he is an insect, his blood isn't the color of normal human or animal blood, but more of a yellow-ish green, which means his inner organs are green aswell as his blush
He has a couple of slits in the back of his top for his wings, enabling him to fly even in his human form. He normally keeps them hidden inside of this form
In his monster form, his mouth is covered with a little patch of fur. When it is open he has rows of teeth that circle all around the inside instead of just the top and the bottom for latching onto someone and sucking out blood and innards like a leach. He has a normal shaped mouth as a human but still has the sharp teeth
It's a bit funny, just like real moths he is often drawn to bug zappers which results in a nasty shock. It's almost like he can't control himself when he sees one
On very rare occasions, he will randomly begin talking non stop which is triggered by someone saying/doing something in particular, and it could be anything whether it's a subject he loves or hates
